Hampden, a post-village of Penobscot co., Me, in Hampden township, on the W. bank of the Penobscot River, 5 or 6 miles below Bangor. It has 2 churches, an academy, 1 or 2 paper-mills, and a barrel-factory. The township contains another village, named Hampden Corner, and has 6 churches and 3 steam lumber-mills. Total pop. 2484.
