Winooski, Vermont, USA - 1854 - Winooski
Winooski. a post-village on both sides of the Winooski river, 1 1/ 2 miles N. E. from Burlington, Chittenden county, Vermont. The Winooski divides the townships of Burlington and Colchester, making the village of Winooski partly in each. The stream, which is crossed at this place by a substantial covered bridge, has a full of about 20 feet. In consequence of the extensive hydraulic power thus afforded, numerous manufactories have sprung up, to which the village chiefly owes its importance.
