Babylon, a post-village and township of Suffolk co, N.Y., situated on the Great South Bay (south shore of long Island), and on the Long Island Railroad at the junction of the Central Branch, 36 miles E. by S. from Brooklyn. It has 7 churches, a weekly newspaper, and numerous other business concerns. Pop. of township in 1890, 6035.
