Malden, a city of Middlesex co., Mass., on a small river of the same name, and on the Boston & Maine Rail road and the Saugus Branch of the Eastern Railroad, 5 miles N. of Boston. It has several churches, 2 newspaper offices, a national bank, a high school, a savings-bank, and manufactures of rubber boots and shoes, cords and tassels, sandpaper, &c. Pop. in 1890, 23,031.
