Metcalfe, Ontario, Canada (Osgoode) - 1907 - TRAGIC DEATH AT METCALFE

Coroner Baptie has been notified of a tragic death at Metcalfe, Ontario, of Mrs. James McCooey. She had been in ill health for some tie and when her husband, who was away from the house for an hour or so yesterday, returned, he found her lifeless body suspended from a rafter in the barn. Dr. Wallace, of Metcalfe, was notified and at once sent word to the coroner. Mrs. McCooey leaves a husband, three sons and one daughter. Dr. Baptie consulted the county crown attorney about the matter, and although this afternoon he could not say definitely, it is unlikely that he will have to go out there. Apparently it is a case of where the woman was despondent through ill health, and when possibly not quite it her right mind, committed suicide. Her daughter had gone upstairs to rest and her husband had gone to a neighbor's.
