CONTRECOEUR, a post village and parish in Verchères co., Que., on the south shore of the St. Lawrence, 30 miles from Montreal. The village contains 1 church, 4 stores and 1 hotel. Its chief trade is in country produce and in maple sugar, about 20,000 lbs. of which is manufactured annually. Pop. of parish 1,813.
