CHATEAUGTAY, a county in the south-western part of Quebec, rich in agricultural resources. Area 159,840 acres. It is watered by the Chateauguay and English Rivers, and traversed by the Montreal & Champlain Junction Ry., which also furnish unsurpassed water-power privileges. Capital, Ste. Martine. Pop. in 1871, 16,166 in 1891, 13,864.
