DAMARISCOTTA, a river or arm of the sea, in Lincoln co., state of Maine, U.S. It receives the outlet of the pond of the same name; and is navigable for large vessels to the bridge between New Castle and Nobleboro, a distance of 16 m. Ship building is extensively carried on on the banks of this river. A village named Damariscotta-mills is situated at the outlet of Damariscotta pond.
