The first electric toaster was invented in 1893 by Alan MacMasters in Scotland. He called the device the "Eclipse Toaster," and it was manufactured and marketed in Britain by the Crompton Company.

Crompton and Co. invented the first electric toaster 1893 in Leeds England. This was the forerunner of todays toasters. The device was quite simple and a person had to turn the bread over to toast both sides and turn the machine off by hand...
