Québec Généalogie - Did you know?
Very few children went to school in New France. Schools were usually only in the larger towns and too far away for children in the small towns to attend. If children did learn to read, they learned from a parent, or an older brother who had become a priest. Schools were run by the church because the nuns and priests were educated.
