The Acadian motto is: L'union fait la force--strength through unity. Both the Acadian motto and the insignia were adopted in Miscouche, Prince Edward Island in 1884, during the second Acadian Convention. The insignia was meant to be worn on lapels during festivities. It has a strip of blue silk cloth embossed with a star, surrounded by rays. Underneath is a vessel in full sail, with the word Acadie on the flag. The words on the bottom read "L'union fait la force." The insignia is crowned with a red and white rosette.
