Thomas Varney was the son of William Varney (b: 1608 in Buckinghamshire,England) and Bridget Knight (b: Abt 1611 in England)

In 1652, he was apprenticed to John Hardy of Salem, a fisherman.

Abigail Proctor was the daughter of John Proctor (b: 1595 in England) and Martha Harper (b: 1607 in London,County Essex,England)

"Corporal Thomas Varney had a share in Plum Island, 1664. Voter in town affairs, 1679. He is called Corporal Varney of Chebacco. His wife was named Abigail...His will is dated November 25, 1692. He died at Chebacco, December 4, 1692."
