Claire Crouss 1929 - 2012 SUFFIELD, CT - Claire (Spaulding) Crouss, 83, of Suffield, wife of the late Leslie N. Crouss, died peacefully on Saturday, September 22, 2012, surrounded by her loving family, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. She was born in Suffield, CT, on January 13, 1929, daughter of the late A. Ward and Emergeene (Hinckley) Spaulding. Claire was a graduate of Suffield High School and was employed at the family florist business, Spaulding Gardens for many years. She later went to work for the Longmeadow Assessor's Office, before retiring. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Agawam, MA. Claire enjoyed the Boston Red Sox and UCONN Women's Basketball. She cherished the time she spent with family and friends. Besides her husband, Leslie of over 54 years, she was predeceased by her sisters, Warda Spaulding and Norma Spaulding Merrell and her brother, Merwyn Spaulding all of Suffield. She leaves her son, L. Nelson Crouss Jr. and his wife Agnes of Springfield Center, NY, her daughters, Sharon Grabowski and her husband Douglas of St. Simon Island, GA, Janice Lock of Davenport, FL and Marcia MacArdle and her husband Joseph of Suffield, CT; her brother, A. Glenn Spaulding and his wife Dorothy of Suffield, CT, her sisters, Muriel White of East Hartford, CT and Elaine Attanasio and her husband Phillip of Windsor, CT and her sister-in-law, Judy Spaulding of Suffield, CT; 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St., (Rt. 159) Suffield, CT. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, 11 a.m., at the First Baptist Church of Agawam, 760 Main Street, Agawam, MA. Burial will follow in Agawam Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Agawam Memorial Fund, 760 Main Street, Agawam, MA. Please visit us at www.carmonfuneralhome.com for online condolences and guest book.
